Spam and abuse protection

To protect the form from automated abuse, the site keeps a small record file on the server. When a completed form passes the basic checks, and before the message is sent, it adds one entry containing a coded key made from your IP address with a secret value, and the time. If the message is then sent, the same entry is marked as sent and gains a coded version of your browser session's random identifier, so the limit on messages per session can be applied. The record holds no name, email address or message text. Without the private value kept on our server, the coded keys cannot realistically be reversed. Records older than 24 hours are removed the next time someone submits the form, and if the record file has not changed for 24 hours it is deleted the next time the contact page is opened. If a message cannot be sent because of a technical problem, your words reappear in the form for another attempt, and nothing is saved on the server.

Cookies

The contact page sets one session cookie, only when the form is shown or submitted, to protect the form against forged submissions. It contains a random identifier, expires when you close your browser and is not used for tracking. Our cookie notice has the details.

Who handles your information

Messages from the form are sent by email from the website to our mailbox. Our web host and email provider store and process the information on our behalf to run the site and deliver email, and their servers may be located outside Quebec and outside Canada, so your information may be held or processed in another province or country and be subject to its laws. Ask us where your information is held and we will say.

If you become a client, the information needed for your project may also be handled by the services named in your project plan, such as a booking platform or payment processor you choose. Those accounts are opened in your name.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not lead to a project are deleted within 12 months of our last reply. Project correspondence is kept for as long as needed to support the work and meet record-keeping obligations, then deleted.

Your choices and rights

You may request a copy of the personal information we keep about you, have mistakes fixed, or withdraw consent to our holding it where no other obligation requires us to keep it. Write to hello@slotivaro.site. Should our reply leave a concern unresolved, you can take it to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, or to a provincial commissioner if a provincial law governs the matter.

Visitors in Quebec

This site does not use technology that identifies, locates or profiles visitors, and it runs no analytics or advertising tools. If that ever changes, we will tell you before any such function is used and how to turn it on, and it will be off by default.

Changes to this notice

Any change to these practices will appear here first, with a new "last updated" date near the top.
